On May 16 and 17, Pelham Middle School experienced its Two Day Consultation Visit, a key component of the Middle Years Programme candidacy process. During this visit, IB consultant Donald Blackmon met with administrators, teachers, parents, and students; toured the school; observed classes; reviewed curriculum; and answered questions. The main purpose of the visit was for Mr. Blackmon to assess the extent to which Pelham Middle School is prepared for its next two steps: applying for authorization, and participating in an authorization visit during which IB evaluators will assess whether or not to authorize Pelham Middle School as an IB World School. Everyone was pleased to see Mr. Blackmon, whom teachers first met back in September when he conducted our "Launching the MYP" session, and we will be excited to read his report when it arrives this summer.
Pelham Middle School and Pelham Memorial High School are candidate schools* for the Middle Years Programme. These schools are pursuing authorization as IB World Schools. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Pelham Middle School and Pelham Memorial High School believe is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
